David Polka‘s “Magpie Study” screen prints or “serigraphs” were printed in 2 limited editions of 50 signed and numbered prints. Both sets are hand printed, the first set on light gray colored 8.5 x 11 inch French cover paper, and the second set on Faultline’s 8x 10 inch house made birch and poplar art panels.

The prints in process
Each of the three colors printed for this artwork is a separate stencil that are layered together to make the image. The images were created by exposing an emulsion covered polyester screen to to light and rinsing out the underexposed emulsion blocked out by the dark ink of the transparency. A high quality fade resistant acrylic ink was then pushed through the mesh to create the image.
