Artist Statement
My work tends to meander between media and subject matter depending on which way the wind is blowing on a given day. Figurative drawing, abstract landscapes in oil, non-objective mixed media paintings, these all interest me. Recently, I find themes emerging around nostalgia for people, places and relationships. The struggle to translate these themes into relatable images is something I happily embrace. I continue to be fascinated by the ability for images to evoke wildly different emotions and responses from different viewers.
Bio
I moved around a lot, Fort Wayne (IN), Ann Arbor (MI), Greenwich (CT), Winston-Salem (NC), Savannah (GA), Berkley (CA), Chicago (IL), Columbia (MO), San Francisco (CA), and now Oakland (CA). I studied art at Wake Forest University, Savannah College of Art and Design and, finally, The Univeristy of Missouri. Oakland has been home for the last ten years, the longest I've lived continuously in one place. I'll stick around a while longer.
