Ballpointpen, Brushpen, & Paintpen on Paper and 12 × 12 wood art panel
A tribute to "Monuments and Melodies" by Incubus. I love this band and I love the artwork on this album: cozy, ominous, and hopeful all at once. I think we all try to find comfort in the isolation and darkness at some point in our lives. Sometimes, we even find company.
Hi! My name is Nicole and I'm a self-taught artist, born and raised in the Bay
Area.
Inspired by nature and leaning heavily into feminine and otherworldly themes, I attempt to capture the duality and, at times, contradiction between the internal and external self through my art. As a Chinese woman, I often find that I stifle my intuitions or put on a facade because of various external (stigma, societal standards, etc.) and internal (self doubt, shame, anxiety, etc.) pressures. My artistic path began at an early age as a fascination but quickly became an outlet for me to explore that conflict and to remind myself of my potential.
I hope my art will serve as a reminder to others that we are beautiful, ultimately powerful, and always magical.
