Stretched Artist Canvas
We have on hand a few dozen pre-made canvas stretcher bars ready for canvas. We stretch the canvas to order so it doesn’t sit around getting dusty in our warehouse. For sizes that we don’t already have on hand, we can make quite quickly. Turnaround time depends on the size of the order and what we already have in stock, but can range from a couple of hours to 10 days for small orders and more for larger orders. We can deliver to most of the San Francisco Bay Area or you can pick up in our warehouse.
We use and selected poplar lumber for most of our canvas stretcher bars. Poplar is a great wood to work with, it has a nice density which isn’t too heavy, but not too soft, it’s easy to get staples in and out of, and it is a fast growing sustainable lumber sourced right here in the good ole U.S. of A. Our standard choice for canvas is #10 pre primed cotton canvas. Pre primed canvas stretches tighter and more consistently than unprimed canvas. We have a special canvas stretching machine that allows us to get maximum tension for a stretch that blows away hand stretching.
